وصف الكتاب:
This book, drawing in the first edition entitled Journalism Skills in English (1991), is a modest attempt to introduce English media skills to media students in the Arab world. It draws on the assumption that while there is a need to expand and enhance our English-language school curricula, more attention should be direct toward the public/mass communication part of English language usage. Recent international events over the past few years seem to underscore the urgency for preparing communicators with credible bilingual (Arabic-English) communication skills capable of addressing and communicating local and pan-Arab issues to foreign audiences. By introducing mass media and public relations students to the English-language media work environment, this book seeks to raise young enhancing global pan-Arab efforts to reach foreign audiences with sound political and cultural messages. While this book may not be adequate for transforming journalism students in the Arab World into professional English-language communicators overnight, faithful abidance by its requirements as part of a course syllabus would serve to reinforce students’ capabilities and enhance their news writing skills. Because Arabic-speaking students are the primary targets of this work, a simplified approach to media writing has been used. To help students identify properly with book contents, examples are drawn from the Arab World.
